Ca’ Foscari invites applications for a permanent position of Full Professor of Oceanography and Physics of the Atmosphere

Ca’ Foscari is looking for a Full Professor of Oceanography and Physics of the Atmosphere capable of inspiring students to become game-changers in their own fields and to make a genuine difference in the world. 

The selection procedure is open to candidates who have obtained the Italian national academic qualification for the functions of Full Professors and for the academic recruitment field (settore concorsuale) of the call or for the other academic recruitment fields belonging to the same group (macrosettore concorsuale).

Academics holding a position of Full Professor in Italy (professore o professoressa di prima fascia) or an equivalent position in other countries cannot participate to this procedure.

The teaching commitment refers to basic and specialist teaching about atmospheric and ocean physics, as well as climatology, in BA, MA and PhD courses at Ca' Foscari University Venice. In particular, the Department is interested in teaching physical climatology in the degree course in Environmental Engineering and in doctoral courses in Science and Management of Climate Change and Environmental Sciences. The activities of teaching will be also about connecting climate science and humanities in the master's degree program in Environmental Humanities.

The candidate's scientific activity will have to contribute to the strengthening of the scientific production in the physical climatological area of the Department with relevant contributions regarding the observed and simulated climatic response, volcanic forcing and the associated mechanisms that have generated climate variability in the pre-industrial period of the last millennium, with particular reference to the implications for ocean circulation in the Atlantic.

The candidate must also commit to promoting national and international research projects.

The position is at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics. 

The Department is engaged in multidisciplinary research, carried out by brilliant researchers in the fields of environmental systems analysis, management and modelization of environmental and informatic systems, climate studies, complexity, preservation of cultural heritage and sustainability.
