Ca’ Foscari is offering a position of Full Professor in Mathematical methods of economics, finance and actuarial sciences.

The selection procedure is open to candidates who have obtained the national academic qualification referred to in art. 16 of Law 240/2010 for the functions of Full Professors and for the academic recruitment field (settore concorsuale) of the call or for the other academic recruitment fields belonging to the same group (macrosettore concorsuale).

Academics holding a position of Full Professor in Italy (professore o professoressa di prima fascia) or an equivalent position in other countries cannot participate to this procedure.

The required teaching commitment involves curricular teaching and other extra-curricular teaching activities consistent with Operations Research and related disciplines, including basic and advanced mathematics, in bachelor's, master's and PhD programs. He/she will also participate in organizational activities of the Department and is willing to supervise doctoral students and researchers on their research path.

The faculty member will be required to carry out 1 curricular course in Computational tools for economics and management.

The expected scientific activity will deal with the core research areas of Operations Research and with the development of advanced scientific research in the field of Numerical Optimization, with reference to the following areas of specific interest: constrained and unconstrained nonlinear optimization models and methods, theory and applications in the field of nonlinear optimization.

The organizational activities include the third mission, active participation in institutional roles, in activities pertaining to Quality Assurance, and a general involvement in the Department governance. 

The position is at the Department of Management, whose major fields of activity include innovation, entrepreneurship, international management and creativity. The faculty in engaged in blending teaching and research in close contact with stakeholders from the economic, institutional and professional areas, while also focusing on sustainability and responsible development issues for the wellbeing of future generations.

The Department has been awarded the official recognition of “Department of Excellence” (top 10%) by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, with special dedicated funding to develop an innovative project on Analytical Intelligence for Management.
