Ca’ Foscari invites applications for a Full Professor in Demology, ethnology and anthropology.

Ca’ Foscari is looking for a Full Professor of Demology, ethnology and anthropology capable of inspiring students to become game-changers in their own fields and to make a genuine difference in the world. 

The selection procedure is open to candidates who have obtained the National Academic Qualification referred to in art. 16 of Law 240/2010 for the functions of Full Professors and for the academic recruitment field (settore concorsuale) of the call or for the other academic recruitment fields belonging to the same group (macrosettore concorsuale).

Academics holding a position of Full Professor in Italy (professore o professoressa di prima fascia) or an equivalent position in other countries cannot participate to this procedure.

The Professor will teach at least 120 hours of courses in subjects related to Demology, ethnology and anthropology, as part of bachelor and MA courses at Ca’ Foscari University, as well as doctoral seminars. The candidate will also carry out specific organizational and institutional activities.

The Professor will work in the field of Demo-Ethno-Anthropology, the activity of research will be concerned with studies on culture and cultures, i.e. with constructs and behaviors within human societies. In particular, the candidate shall demonstrate a thorough experience in ethnographic research in different fields, especially as far as indigenous and post-colonial studies are concerned. The candidate is also expected to possess an excellent competence in anthropological theories, research methodologies and history of anthropology.

The position will be hosted at the Department of Humanities, a center for the development of innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to history, literature, classics, archeology, art and anthropology. In the Department of Humanities, Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellows and ERC awardees work together with the permanent faculty, creating a vibrant academic environment.
