Ca’ Foscari invites applications for a permanent position of Full Professor of Physical geography and geomorphology

Ca’ Foscari is looking for a Full Professor of Physical geography and geomorphology capable of inspiring students to become game-changers in their own fields and to make a genuine difference in the world. 

The selection procedure is open to candidates who have obtained the Italian national academic qualification for the functions of Full Professors and for the academic recruitment field (settore concorsuale) of the call or for the other academic recruitment fields belonging to the same group (macrosettore concorsuale).

Academics holding a position of Full Professor in Italy (professore o professoressa di prima fascia) or an equivalent position in other countries cannot participate to this procedure.

The teaching commitment refers to both basic and specialized teaching in Physical Geography and Geomorphology within the bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs offered by Ca' Foscari University Venice. In particular, the Department is interested in specialized teaching in coastal geomorphological hazards and processes associated with coastal dynamics, with special emphasis on issues related to sea level rise and shoreline change at different spatial and temporal scales.

The scientific effort should contribute to the enhancement of scientific production in the academic discipline covered by the call. In particular, the Department is interested in developing research activities in the following areas: 

(i) Sea level changes during the Quaternary; 

(ii) Interactions between climate change, sea level rise and vertical land movements; 

(iii) Monitoring techniques and studies of geomorphological and environmental processes in coastal environments.

The candidate will be expected to engage in the acquisition and development of international and national research projects, as well as in third mission activities. The position is at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics. 

The Department is engaged in multidisciplinary research, carried out by brilliant researchers in the fields of environmental systems analysis, management and modelization of environmental and informatic systems, climate studies, complexity, preservation of cultural heritage and sustainability.
